Constructed Awareness

Thank you for taking the Constructed Awareness Scale (CAS).
The purpose of the CAS is to identify your orientation style(s) by exploring how you engage with your thoughts, sensations, and the external world.

Constructed Awareness (CA) teaches that:

  1. Reality is shaped by three "building blocks"—thoughts, sensations, and external senses.
  2. Individuals tend to rely more heavily on one of these building blocks to self-regulate and connect with others, depending on the situation. This reliance is known as "orientation."
  3. These three building blocks can be organized in six ways, forming the six "orientation styles" of the CA typology.
  4. Each orientation style is associated with distinct character and personality traits.
  5. Your orientation style may shift depending on context—whether you are at work, at home, with your family of origin, etc.—offering insight into how your orientation adapts across different areas of your life.

Please click the button below to begin the quiz. Remember, no one is one orientation style all the time. Feel free to take the CAS with one context in mind (e.g., how you are around loved ones). Once completed, you can retake it with another context in mind (e.g., how you are at work), and so on, to help identify orientation patterns across various aspects of your life.
